Cherryl & Robert
Robert and Cherryl had been travelling around Australia in their caravan for 6 years before retiring at The Village.
After retiring from Sydney, Robert and Cherryl decided to travel around Australia in their caravan and were in search for a place to retire to. The only preconceptions they had were that it would need to be a major regional centre with the infrastructure to support them as they got older.
While they travelled, they narrowed down their search to Geraldton, WA but it was too remote, Canberra ACT – where they had lived for many years before moving to Sydney – but it is too cold in winter, and Townsville, where their daughter had moved to with her family.
During their many visits to Townsville, their daughter had become aware of The Village and suggested it to them. It was then that Robert and Cherryl decided to look into settling down in Townsville.
"In one word – ambience. We just had a good feel about The Village when we first visited.
"We liked the look of the homes in The Village particularly the variation in roof profiles.
"The community focus at The Village is very important to us and we are able to participate in activities that interest us.
"We have been able to experience the friendliness and community spirit that was so important to us when we were making the decision to buy.
"We are very environmentally conscious, and we were able to build the home of our choice which has a small footprint on the land and environment.
"The parklands and paths provide a very pleasant environment where we are able to walk around easily and take our dog on daily walks.
"Location, location, Location! Being a few kilometres from the city, beaches, The Strand, shopping centres, hospital, botanic gardens, it only really takes 10-15 minutes to drive to anywhere in Townsville.
"All our high expectations of living in The Village have been met.
"In essence, it's a nice place to live."
